A beautiful African Grey :)

The African Grey Parrot (Psittacus erithacus) is a medium-sized parrot endemic to primary and secondary rainforest of West and Central Africa. Experts regard it as one of the most intelligent birds. They feed primarily on palm nuts, seeds, fruits, leafy matter, and have even been observed eating snails. Their overall gentle nature and their inclination and ability to mimic speech have made them popular pets. This has led many to be captured from the wild and sold into the pet trade.

i'm reading a book about african grays that says they're very smart. my friend has one but he's kind of temperamental.

So beautiful *_* You could almost get lost in the beautiful feather textures, and the shades of gray make it all the more difficult to look away from .o.

I remember seeing a documentary about one of these that was very well trained, not only could it remember and repeat 1000 or so words, but it actually had an understanding of them too...they gave it tests with various brightly coloured shapes and they would point to say, a green triangle and ask "what shape is it?" and he would answer correctly! then they would ask "which shape is orange?" and the parrot got the right one again :XD:

Lovely picture! I have one of these myself, sleeping about 10 feet away from me :o

Today he yelled at me to 'stop it' when I started bothering him for tearing up one of my notepads. They're so smart.
