HOLLYYYYYY CRAAAAAPPP!! MY FIRST DD!!!!!!! *o* thank you SOOOO much!! Big thanks to molecularlight who suggest me, and RockstarVanity who featured me! I NEVER THOUGHT I WOULD SEE THE DAY!
EDIT 6/7/10: New coloring done to the photo, and much bigger version uploaded. Old version can be seen here: [link]
I'd like to start with saying that this really is a fantastic image, and well-deserving of the DD given to it. I was skeptical at first glance, but then I gave it a full view, and was happily proven wrong. The centering of the subject within the frame is surprisingly effective, and the vibrant colors really make it pop. The model's almost-smile facial expression is intriguing, and the subtle depth of field helps keep everything smooth and consistent.
That being said, I do have a small issue with the content itself. I really have no idea what you're trying to say to me with this image. At first it's gruesome, then light-hearted, then serious...there's no real, palpable emotional content to the image. One could argue that this isn't a problem, which I would agree with to a degree, but I think it does detract from the overall impact of the image just a bit.
In the end, a job very well done. Thank you very much for sharing!
This is excellent and very worthy of a DD. I think the white background helps to draw more focus onto the model and works well with the subject. I like the way the bandage is wrapped around the arm - it works much better this way than it would if it coverred all of the skin. The arm obscures the prefect portion of the face - I don't think this would work as well if it obscured much more. It also divides the frame in the prefect place. I think the baggy neck of the t-shirt works well with the whole atmosphere of the photograph.
If I was to to make a suggestion it would be go in tighter and make this a portrait composition - keeping the model slightly off centre. Only a suggestion though and I get the impression that the landscape format is very deliberate.
there are so many things I love about this. 1. how, despite the title, it looks gory because of the strawberries smeared every where (i love strawberries and i do this myself sometimes hehe). 2. the person reminds me of L who has a rather peculiar love of fruit and sweet things. 3. the composition, the minimal use of colour, the red of the strawberries, not bright or stand-outish but in harmony with the neutral tones. 4. and finally, the long strawberry sitting in the persons mouth.
